My living library …
This is a brief summary of the book whose cover is reproduced here. Whenever I enter my digital library on GoodReads I feel the same as Diana.
“Diana thought of spending a week in a cabin on the shore of Jersey, she thought it was a fun idea. Away from everything and everyone, a short distance from the ocean, in wild and untouched nature. Isolated, without a cell phone or connection with the world, along with her parents and their friends, in those little caravan cabins that served as accommodation. There was no air conditioning despite the sweltering heat and humidity.
Desperate for relief, Diana seeks out a cooler place and comes upon a cabin converted into an old library with a working air conditioner. She enters it and hides under a table, then she lays down to take a nap. When she wakes up she finds herself locked in the library and a strange cast of characters has emerged from their books.
Cleopatra, King Arthur, Don Quixote, and Romeo have taken human form and offer to help her. Is she crazy? Don Quixote extracts Dr. Freud from her biography to assure her that she is healthy, which does not reassure her at all. The characters do what they can to help Diana escape the library, and along the way, she learns their stories and learns even more about herself.”
